Much like how FBR was a last minute, Hendrick R&D team last season. Hendrick has signed an alliance with retired driver Nick Mace (Extremespeed) who is coming out of retirement to drive the 5 car for the new MRT team. His sister Ashley Mace will drive the 24 car for the team! The team is expected to make it's debut either for Sandusky or Detroit Belle Isle, so they won't be around for a few races. However this team should be a threat, as they are getting the top of the line Hendrick equipment that is too experimental for the actual Hendrick cars! So this team is effectively Hendrick's guinea pig team. The team is expected to be approved by ARCSOA to bring the field up to 28 cars. We could not reach MRT owner Nick Mace. However, ARCSOA race director Tom Hailey stated, "Our overall goal was to bring the field size up to 28 cars in Season 13. Now we have the number we want, and the addition of two cars should allow for some amazing racing." Greg Brown also was unavailable for comment.
